Summary0001484: Monteverdi 6.2 performance is catastrophic
DescriptionMonteverdi 6.2 handles moderate amount of open images very poorly, even on a modern laptop. Above 5 medium sized images (4000x4000, 10 bands) navigation (zoom and pan) takes up to 10 full seconds fo refresh while the UI freeze completely and sometimes crashes. QGIS handles the same situation much better. Even only 1 image is difficult to use. This challenges Monteverdi's core use case which is to be a fast satellite image viewer.

Tested on win 64 bit binary package (but i believe affects all platforms)
Steps To ReproduceOpen all 5 sentinel 2 images from workshopdata.zip in monteverdi 6.2 then in QGIS:

Just tried again on 6.4. Performance is much better. Opening 5 images is about the same experience as in QGIS in terms of performance. AFAIK we can close this but maybe someone else wants to try it.

I tested on Linux : performance of release-6.4 is close to QGis.

I suspect another benefit from the itkTimeProbe replacement (used in GDALImageIO during buffer reading). See 0001486
